Hortense Jackson

Project Director

Hortense Jackson is a senior project director with Georgia Tech’s Enterprise Innovation Institute (EI²).  As an integral member of EI²’s team of community innovation specialists, she is responsible for the delivery of CIS’s services to communities in south Georgia.  She also serves as course administrator for several economic development training programs offered through Georgia Tech.

Since joining Georgia Tech in 2002, she has worked with various rural Georgia communities to assist them with economic development planning, strategic planning, coaching and facilitation, and implementation of strategic plans. More recently, Hortense has been leading efforts to implement programs to help raise interest among south Georgia middle and high school students in science, technology, mathematics, and engineering pursuits.

Prior to joining Georgia Tech, Hortense served as associate vice president of technology at Albany State University where she was responsible for managing administrative computing and instructional technology. She also worked for IBM for 15 years as a systems engineer and marketing representative in several Georgia counties. Hortense has a business degree from the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business and is a member of the Georgia Economic Developers Association.  Her interests include community and regional innovation, human creativity and innovation, and sustainable economic development.
